I've been learning Japanese in class with the Minna no Nihongo I and would like to aspire to complete the JLPT N5 exam as a personal goal, while I carry on taking classes. To cover some more grammar, I'm considering investing in the 'A Dictionary of Basic Japanese Grammar'.

I've come across a couple of JLPT N5 books and I was wondering if anyone who knows more about them can recommend any, or a couple to use alongside online resources: • 合格できる日本語能力試験N4・N5 (Gokaku Dekiru JLPT N4/5 w/2CDs) • にほんごチャレンジ N4・N5 (Nihongo Challenge Kanji N4 - N5) • 日本語能力試験 公式問題集 N5 (JLPT Koshiki Mondaishu N5 w/CD) • にほんご500問 (Nihongo 500-mon (N4-N5)) Many thanks in advance! Here is what I know about those four books: • Gokaku Dekiru JLPT N4/5 w/2CDs This book will give you JLPT practice questions; this book doesn't teach you about Grammar. This book is good if you have mastered the Grammar, Vocabulary, and Kanji required for JLPT N5 and you want to evaluate your understanding. • Nihongo Challenge Kanji N4 - N5 I personally own this book. This book comes in 2 parts. Part 1 teaches you 110 Kanji for JLPT N5 level (Part 2 teaches additional 200 Kanji for JLPT N4).

It teaches you how to remember the meaning of the 110 Kanji with picture explanation and some words that come with the Kanji you learn. It also gives you Kanji practice questions in JLPT format and the pronunciation of each Kanji. This book is good for learning Kanji for JLPT N4 and N5 level.

It doesn't teach about Japanese grammar. Here is the for this book. And here is to download. To see the sample page, you go to page and click for each thumbnail to preview the page. Rifmi k imeni yaroslav maternie • JLPT Koshiki Mondaishu N5 w/CD This book also gives you JLPT practice questions and it doesn't teach about grammar. This book is good if you have mastered the Grammar, Vocabulary, and Kanji required for JLPT N5 and you want to evaluate your understanding.

I personally think the content of this book is provided free in JLPT official website. (See the official resources section below) • Nihongo 500-mon (N4-N5) This book gives you practice questions and gives you explanation for each answer for the questions. Again, this book is good if you have mastered the Grammar, Vocabulary, and Kanji required for JLPT N5 and you want to evaluate your understanding. From what I see, you already know Japanese grammar by taking class with Minna no Nihongo and the four books you mention is mostly all about practice questions.

So, are you looking books for practice questions? For your information, I took JLPT N5 last year and the resources that I use for this test are: • by Unicom. It teaches you about grammar, vocabulary and Kanji.
