On the way to mass production, the new model MZMA has quite significantly evolved outwardly. Although from the very beginning were created different options for exterior design. Some of them were repeated in separate elements of the solution, prepared for the GAZ-21 Volga.
Anyway, the cars of the two plants look today like cars of one enterprise, only of different classes. The bearing body of the new car Moskvich-402 was a rigid spatial truss, welded as one piece from several large subassemblies.
Most of the body parts are made in the form of forgings from mild steel sheet. The body has four doors hinged on the front hinges, an alligator-type hinged hinges and a trunk lid with external chrome hinges, which opens from the inside of the car.
