I've got a 450mbit connection and usually download my stuff at around ~46MB/s. And yet the downloader of FFXIV (PC) downloads with a rate of about 1.04MB/s. There doesn't seem to be any way for me to fix this. Unless the connection is really flaky, corruptions while downloading should be caught on another layer that the launcher doesn't even see (on the TCP layer). Meaning either wrong data or if the received data is out of order wouldn't need to be checked by the downloader and thus no throttling needed. And even if they want to do that, wouldn't it be more effective to not throttle and then check after receiving the data?

I've also seen people download upwards of 5MB/s, I'd be happy with just that since it's still 5x faster than now:P • • • • •.
